  • A handmade gift that doesn't feel like him

You might be thinking...

FAQs

What do I do If I want to run this workshop with a group?

The maximum group for this workshop is 10pax. at a cost of $1,500. This ensures there is personalised attention within the time given.

Please contact me to discuss details via the Contact form using Title: 'Fabric Formula Workshop' with Date, Location and approx. number and I will be in touch.

Do I get instant access to the Fabric formula when I purchase?

Yes - if you have purchased the online version. An email is sent to you with the link to download your PDF. You can instantly start decoding your Fabric Formula.

If you are doing the In-person workshop resources are made available to you during the onsite session.

When the PDF gives me my Fabric Formula how complex will it be?

I have tested this on friends who have little idea of what the Fabric Formula is but have an interest in understanding what colours look good on them.

They were able to read and complete the checkboxes within minutes. These answers are then used to complete the online quiz. The document is in English.

Will the Fabric Formula work for men and women?

Yes, but…The Fabric Formula is designed with men in mind. references to body shape are for boys and men.

In addition fabric designs referred to suit boys and men. In saying this, it can also be insightful for women, in particular the colour types and fabric pattern scale and density for body size (not shape).

What body shapes does it cover?

This document is designed for boys and men. there are 5 men’s body shapes covered when I discuss fabric design scale and density.

Why do I have to do the online quiz to get my answer?

I want to know what you are. This helps me design the right fabrics for you. So you always have access to fabrics that suit you.

My customers are based all around the world and I am genuinely interested in what suits you.

This will change over time as you change and age and that will be interesting to watch as well. It is silly for me to design a whole lot of fabrics in a Winter colour-way if none of my customers are Winter.

Will I have to pay any other costs associated with the Fabric Formula?

No. There are no ongoing costs. Just one upfront very affordable charge. If it was an app there would be. This is another reason why I have not designed this as an app.

There is an opportunity to buy your fabric swatches at the end as a reference tool but this is optional.

I already know my colour type will this still be useful?

It depends how recently you did it. But yes I believe so, because it is more than just your colour type.

It is good to do a refresher because your facial features, skin colour and hair all change over time and sometimes it is enough to change your type.

In addition to your colour type I make recommendations on wearable combinations that are complimentary, analogous and monochrome. And if you want, you can purchase a sample of fabrics that suit.

What if I can’t work it out on my own?

There is a private Skool Group available to any customer of Jane Harbison Design. You are free to ask for help in that group.

This is also the benefit of an in-person workshop, where you have access to me, and shared experience with friends and colleagues who can alleviate your fears.

Will I need any additional software and tools?

The online version of the Fabric Formula is a PDF. So you will need Adobe Reader (free) and access to the internet to download and do the quiz. The quiz is housed on an online survey software.

I prefer this PDF method vs a digital app because this way you can learn each of the steps required to get the answer. Gaining skills is something I value and I have made sure to incorporate learning in the process.

In addition it keeps the cost down for you.

Why isn’t this an app?

This can easily be an app but I want you to learn the process for yourself. I want you to see how the answers to your questions are processed to give you your Fabric Formula.

If I do turn it into an app it will still have all the questions that I ask in the PDF version so you still learn the process.

This way you gain a life long skill that you can apply to all members of your family.

It fulfils one of the strengths of a sewer in that you are a life long learner.

What is the refund policy?

The online workshop - There is no refund on this product as it is a digital product with instant access upon purchase.

The in-person workshop - There are 14 days from date of purchase to re-schedule or cancel. An in-person workshop cannot be refunded 5 or less working days prior to the booked workshop date. Any pre-booked travel arrangements cannot be refunded. Contact to make arrangements as soon as you are aware of them.

Jane Harbison Fabric Formula workshop

About Jane Harbison

There is enormous pride in seeing him grab that shirt you made from the hanger every time he heads out.

I have spent hours pulling together research, interviewing experts, my own design experience and training to bring a usable guide to you.

There is so much information about colour and what men should wear that it feels overwhelming.

When something is overwhelming we often choose to do nothing.

I don't want that for you because there are so many benefits to learning this. And when you have learnt it you will be checking people's facial contrast and chroma out in the coffee line to see if you can pick their colour type.

  • Getting it 80% right is better than most people.

You will see significant benefit even at 80% right. Many haven't taken the time to grasp the basics and that is why there are so many wonderful stylists and designers out there helping us.

You don't need to be perfect with this. There is always room for creative license.
