I’m really excited to make this, but I want to make it special. My husband had a winter robe I bought him 30 years ago and while it is threadbare in parts he won’t part with it, so this summer robe needs to be the right fabric weight and colour. Still in the planning. Winter here in Australia so I have a little time for selection

The shorts turned out really well, the pattern was well presented and very easy to make with the aid of Jane's excellent step by step video tutorials. What fabric should I make this pattern out of?
It depends on the purpose of the robe (dressing gown). Lightweight fabrics for summer such as 100% Cotton, Linen, Linen/Cotton blend, Cotton Seersucker, Cotton Poplin, or Rayon.
For the cooler months Terry Towelling or a modern Wool blend works nicely. All these have good wicking properties so they are great for drying off after a shower. For a luxurious look silk or satin fall beautifully in this pattern. Read this article to get fabric suggestions for a Summer Robe.
